Craftsman Style Residence

Scotch Plains, NJ

Our clients often come to us with an idea, a memory of a place, or even a single piece of furniture that inspires them. This young couple asked that we incorporate the aesthetic of a custom dining table they had fabricated by a woodworker while living in Thailand. They also expressed their desire for slightly rustic and warm spaces as well as an abundance of natural light and an open floor plan. We incorporated the Thai influence by using bold wood elements and natural stone, designing custom exterior columns, and creating a solid teak island for the kitchen. The finished design, with a muted color scheme, employs craftsman style details while reflecting the family’s love of handmade, rustic elements.
